Thank you so much for visiting this site and honoring Mel with your contribution. Throughout Mel's illness, we sought out the latest information and the best drugs available to confront this horrible disease. But in the end, it felt like we were fighting a raging wildfire with a garden hose. Unfortunately, lung cancer is often stigmatized as a smokers' disease (even though half of its victims are non-smokers or former smokers). And although lung cancer kills more Americans each year than breast, prostate, colorectal and pancreatic cancers combined, it gets far less attention and research funding per death than these diseases. Many patients, like Mel, simply don't have the tools they need to fight. We are so grateful for your support.
