The Participant Center is your home for easy and fun online fundraising. This guide will help you customize your Personal Page, e-mail all of your friends and family to ask for their support, and view your progress.
In 2006, two long-time lung cancer survivors, the late Rich Kaufman and the late Geri Norris, with the support of a small group of family, friends and volunteers also touched by lung cancer, started the first walk in Boston. Since then, this grassroots movement has successfully drawn thousands of participants and raised over $1,000,000 for lung cancer research, education, and support resources and advocacy for those affected by lung cancer. All walk proceeds have been for the benefit of LUNGevity Foundation, and we in the BREATHE DEEP BOSTON community are proud that Boston institutions, their physicians and scientists, are so well represented in the foundation's history of investment in research projects across the country.
Bill Shields, WBZ-TV general assignment reporter, will emcee Breathe Deep Boston and share his personal story about his battle with lung cancer. Shields will also host a meet-and-greet with walkers at the half-way point at the end of Farragut Road where it meets with Carson Beach.
LUNGevity Foundation's publicity team promotes Breathe Deep Boston
participants through the media, and we need your stories! By generating media
attention for the event, we can attract new walkers, help walkers boost their
fundraising, and spread the mission of LUNGevity Foundation. When people read,
hear or watch stories about their neighbors and why they participate in Breathe
Deep Boston in the media, they are much more likely to contribute financially
to the cause.
