Breathe Deep CNY is a 5k timed run and untimed walk to raise money for critical lung cancer research. Fundraising awards will be given to the top 3 individual fundraisers, top family fundraising team, and top corporate fundraising team. Fundraising deadline for awards is Saturday, September 14 at midnight. Donations turned in on the day of the event will not count toward award totals. Running awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in each age group. The course is friendly to wheelchairs, bicycles, strollers, and pets. The event will feature live music, face painting, massage, and a silent auction. Free refreshments will be provided and food will be available for purchase at a food truck. Be sure to bring a photo of your loved one for our lung cancer honor wall.
Event History
Breathe Deep CNY is a grassroots event that was started 7 years ago by the family of Brenda Shue. Brenda was a very warm, family-centered person who was only 49 years old when she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She fought hard for her life but ultimately succumbed to this disease. Many of the volunteers who make this event possible do so because they have friends and family members who have been affected by lung cancer and would like to help others by raising much-needed lung cancer research dollars.
Honor a lost loved one or celebrate a survivor
Honor markers, each with a customized tribute message, will
be placed along the event course to guide walkers and runners. To order
your tribute message, download a form here. Forms must be in our Chicago office no later than Friday, August 23, 2013.
