Breathe Deep New Hampshire is a 5k untimed walk, in memory of Tom Drolet, to raise funds for critical lung cancer research. The course is friendly to strollers, wheelchairs, and pets (as long as they are cleaned up after)! A DJ will provide the mornings soundtrack and refreshments will be provided. Team photos will take place before the walk and kids can enjoy face painting and other crafts throughout the morning. Test your good luck and stay for the raffle and be sure to bring a memento of your loved one for our Memory Wall.
Sharon Drolet's husband, Tom, was diagnosed with lung cancer in May 2010 after being treated for several other sicknesses. In Novmeber 2010, Sharon participated in the LUNGevity walk in Boston and decided that there needed to be a walk to raise funds for lung cancer research in New Hampshire as well, so she founded Breathe Deep New Hampshire. She believes that more people need to be made aware of the devastating effects of lung cancer and that lung cancer is not just a smoker's disease. She wants researchers to work toward the discovery of successful early detection and targeted therapies to decrease and hopefully eliminate the deaths caused by this horrible disease. Unfortunately, Tom lost his battle with lung cancer in March 2011. Sharon wants to make sure that nobody else loses their battle. She says, "We have to start somewhere."
