Our Story

Event coordinator, Katie Avesian is involved with Breathe Deep Michigan in honor of her mother. Katie lost her mother, Penelope, to lung cancer over four years ago. Penelope was diagnosed nearly five years before her death and relied on LUNGevity Foundation for emotional support as well as information on the newest, most progressive treatments for the disease. Katie has dedicated herself to continuing her mother's battle, helping to create a world in which lung cancer patients have access to early detection options and lifesaving treatments.
