Susan Mantel joined LUNGevity Foundation as Vice President of Programs and Marketing in December 2011 and was promoted to Senior Vice President, Research and Education, in June 2014. She brings extensive experience with marketing and management of high profile health care products and services. She also has more than 12 years of experience working with researchers and clinicians to advance knowledge and options in oncology, infectious disease and behavioral health. Friends and family from 15 to 85 years of age have been affected by cancer, including an uncle and cousin with lung cancer, and she is dedicated to improving quality of life and outcomes for those with the disease.
Most recently, her work with the healthcare strategy and marketing agency Flywheel Partners included leading the advocacy and marketing initiatives for a biotech client’s innovative lymphoma treatment product. As the first Executive Director of Uniting Against Lung Cancer, Susan worked with the Board of Directors and Medical Advisory Committee to develop and execute strategies for raising awareness and supporting innovative research into the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.
Prior to joining Uniting Against Lung Cancer, Susan was in Marketing at Pfizer, where she executed initiatives to develop and launch new products and grow those already on the market. Her responsibilities included leading the creation of marketing materials, developing educational programs for patients and staff, strategic planning for the US and global markets, and contributing as a member of the new products team to addressing unmet patient needs. Previously, she managed business development for the Worldwide Health Care Practice for The Boston Consulting Group, developing marketing initiatives, as well as platforms and programs to transfer knowledge throughout the worldwide healthcare organization.
Susan holds an MBA from the JL Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in marketing, finance, and health services management and a BA from Haverford College. She loves living in Hoboken, NJ, with its many restaurants, quick access to Broadway and easy escapes to the great outdoors.
