LUNGevity is proud to announce an important milestone—thanks to our dedicated supporters, we have now funded 100 research projects in 23 states since 2002! These LUNGevity research awards are enabling brilliant scientists across the country to understand lung cancer and how to find and treat it better.

  Hope Summit

And we’re hosting a first-time event: our first regional HOPE Summit for people at all stages of lung cancer diagnosis, in Columbus, Ohio. Meanwhile, our busy fall event season kicks off on September 14. Please join us at one of our 37 events this fall, all dedicated to raising awareness and funds for lung cancer research.

Breathe Deep DC – the nation's event

Jerry Sorkin

The annual Breathe Deep DC 5k walk was started by Jerry Sorkin (center in photo), a stage IV lung cancer survivor since 2007, to raise awareness and funds for lung cancer research. In its first four years, the event has hosted thousands of participants and raised over $1 million. Breathe Deep DC provides a wonderful opportunity for individuals affected by lung cancer to be with others and to feel the power of a community coming together—to remember lives lost and to support those fighting the disease.

Join us on Sunday, November 3, for the fifth annual Breathe Deep DC 5k walk on The National Mall in Washington. Click here for more information and to register.

First Midwest survivor HOPE summit to take place in Columbus

LUNGevity’s first regional HOPE Summit survivorship conference will take place this November at The Ohio State University in Columbus. Spearheaded by survivor Jose Rodriguez, this conference follows our annual national HOPE Summit in May, which brings together over 100 lung cancer survivors and caregivers.

This one-day event allows survivors who may not want to travel for a full weekend away to experience the sense of community, inspiration, support, and learning found by the attendees of the two-day May Summit. The Midwest HOPE Summit begins Friday, November 8, with a reception, which is followed by the conference on Saturday, November 9. Attendees are invited to join us for the Breathe Deep Columbus walk on Sunday, November 10. For more information, go to www.LUNGevity.org/regionalsummit or email us at HOPE@LUNGevity.org.
