Thank you for signing Maureen's guestbook. Please make a donation to the LUNGevity Foundation. Our mother Maureen passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2008 from complications of lung cancer. This is a disease that she had battled bravely for over two years. However, most others are not as lucky as she was. Lung cancer is a disease that needs much more research in terms of early detection, treatments and cures. When compared with other forms of cancer, lung cancer research funding pales. This is often a disease people forget about because there are so few survivors to lobby for funds. Nonetheless, lung cancer is the most prolific cancer killer in the United States for both men and women. The 5-year survival rate for this form of cancer is only 15%, while breast cancer has an 85% 5-year survival rate. Thank you once again for your thoughts and prayers for our mother and our family.

I have known Maureen for over a decade and always looked forward to her feisty public appearances. She was a tireless fighter for Worth Township and a neighbor to all of us in Evergreen Park. Maureen will be missed greatly and the Leubscher family sends our condolences to Jack Murphy and family during this difficult time.

I'm sorry to hear the loss of your wife and mother. The newspapers wrote an accurate portrayal of Maureen's life and her accomplishments, with the help of family and friends.
She always said, it's a shame that someone has to die before the newspapers have anything good to say about them but Maureen was all good and all heart her family and friends know this, which is why she will be so sorely missed.
She was always open to share her knowledge and experience, state her beliefs, and live out her faith.
I will miss our insightful conversations. Maureen served her constituents with honesty, integrity and dignified service while speaking for the taxpayers, demanding efficiency and accountability.
I will miss Maureen, my friend. She leaves this world a better place as a result of her passionate efforts, who always helped those who couldn't help themselves.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful wife and beautiful mother with all of us.
Liz, Gerry and the boys.

I first met Maureen 24 years ago when she ran for Worth Township Clerk. I was only 13 years old at the time but, I remember being impressed by her.
My voter registration Oath was administered by Maureen 6 days before my 18th birthday.
All these years, Maureen mentored me while I was a member of the Worth Public School District Board of Education, constantly giving me advice that got me through the day.
I can think of very few people with the tenacity yet gentleness that Maureen possessed. No one could ever replace her in the Republican Party. They could only succeed her.
